Seattle’s Funnest Ski Shop

As of October, ProSki has openings at ALL POSITIONS! Plus, things always change in a ski shop;  one minute we think we’ve got every position filled, the next, someone goes and gets a real (no fun) job and we’ve got an opening.  So if you’re interested in a job at ProSki, either full* or part time, for the season or just for a few weeks during winter break, get in touch!

*Full time positions at ProSki come with health care benefits.

Sales Person

ProSki Seattle, on Sand Point Way, just north of UW, is looking for an experienced sales person and skier to work with us this season. We’re flexible on days and hours. Full time help for the season would be great, but if you can only work weekends or afternoons, for the right person, we can make it happen. ProSki is both an alpine (downhill) and backcountry (alpine touring and telemark) ski shop. We don’t sell snowboards (although we do tune and repair them).

The day goes by in a hurry; we’re a busy ski shop with Seattle’s funnest and friendliest staff and there’s always something interesting to do. If we’re not working with customers fitting boots, selling skis, clothing and accessories, or setting up a rental package, there’s always more: restocking, pricing, waxing skis or putting away tried-on boots.

The perks are huge! As a ski shop employee you can purchase a season pass at massively reduced rates, plus you get way-below-wholesale pricing on gear and access to our rental and demo fleet of alpine and backcountry gear.

What we’re looking for

  • Retail selling experience. We need someone friendly, knowledgeable and able to close a sale. Most of all friendly and just as happy working with a family that skis 3 times a year as with a hard-core backcountry charger.

  • A skier. If you have backcountry experience, that’s a plus, but the main thing is a real love of skiing.

  • A hard worker. If there are no customers in the store, there’s LOTS to do.

  • Available, reliable, local. We’re a really small shop, if an employee doesn’t show up on time due to traffic or other obligations, we’re in trouble and the other staff will have a really difficult day.

  • Ability to learn. We don’t expect you to know everything (how to use our POS, how to set up rentals, everything there is to know about avalanche safety gear…) but we do expect you to be a good listener and learner.

This job involves reading, writing and conversing in English, climbing step-stools to get gear down from high places, carrying heavy skis up and down stairs and bending over to try boots on customers.

Compensation will be hourly, based on experience and qualifications.

Tech (Binding Mounter)

This is a fairly technical position, involving careful measurements, accurate work with jigs, drills, screws and glue.  It’s also a physical job, requiring carrying skis, boots, bindings and tools around the shop, up and down stairs, plus drilling lots of holes and driving screws every day.  Anyone taking on this position will receive extensive training and learn a lot about a wide variety of gear.

The perks are huge! As a ski shop employee you can purchase a season pass at massively reduced rates, plus you get way-below-wholesale pricing on gear and access to our rental and demo fleet of alpine and backcountry gear.

What we’re looking for:

A hard worker. This job involves a lot of work on your own.  You’ll need to be self-motivated.

  • Available, reliable, local. We’re a really small shop, if an employee doesn’t show up on time due to traffic or other obligations, we’re in trouble and the other staff will have a really difficult day.

  • Ability to learn.  There are a lot of different types of bindings, all with their own unique requirements.

Compensation will be hourly, based on experience and qualifications.

Tech (Ski Tuner)

This is also a somewhat technical position, involving the use of many different tuning machines, waxing irons, scrapers, P-Tex, glue, files and brushes.  It’s a very physical job, requiring lifting and pushing heavy skis through machines. You’ll learn a lot in this job! Anyone taking on this position will receive extensive training.

The perks are huge! As a ski shop employee you can purchase a season pass at massively reduced rates, plus you get way-below-wholesale pricing on gear and access to our rental and demo fleet of alpine and backcountry gear.

  • Ability to learn, and you’ll learn a lot!  There will be quite a bit of training involved.  Different skis will need different types of tunes and repairs.  Carefully reading and understanding shop forms will be a must.

Inventory specialist

ProSki has truck-loads of inventory coming in almost every day. We need help unboxing it, matching deliveries to packing lists, checking items into our Point of Sale system, updating pricing, printing labels, and stocking shelves.

The perks are huge! As a ski shop employee you can purchase a season pass at massively reduced rates, plus you get way-below-wholesale pricing on gear and access to our rental and demo fleet of alpine and backcountry gear.

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone self-motivated.  You need to be able to make good progress on your own.

  • Attention to detail.  Small mistakes with inventory intake can result in big problems for sales people when they’re ringing things up.

  • You don’t need to be a skier to do this job, but some familiarity with ski gear would probably help.
